Colaizzi’s analysis method was used to analyse the data. Lincoln and Guba’s criteria were used for study rigour.
Results:

They experienced a huge workload and terrible death due to the unavailability of oxygen, beds, ICU and ventilators. Nurses experienced fear and anxiety about the transmission of COVID-19 to their families. They felt fear of disclosing the working area and positive status as well as restrictions on gathering. Despite discrimination in society, family support and public appreciation helped them to gain self-esteem, social respect and recognition.
